Founded by Maxine Laceby in 2015, Absolute Collagen has become one of the UK’s fastest-growing direct to consumer beauty brands. The liquid formula has skyrocketed to success by providing the highest dose of collagen available on the market within a concentrated daily amount. Now a multi-million pound business with mentions in magazines such as Forbes, GQ and WomensHealth, Absolute Collagen shows no signs of stopping there.
In June 2021, we were approached by the company to carry out works for their new site based in Telford. The aim of the project was to transform the empty unit into a fully operational space where all business functions can be performed under one roof.
To achieve this, we completed a bespoke design and build service with a mezzanine floor to meet the client’s requirements for space. A variety of internal works were carried out across the warehouse and offices to combine practical functionality with a comfortable environment for staff to work.
We designed, supplied and installed comfort heating and cooling systems with ventilation to all office restrooms to ensure building regulations were complied with, and added warehouse background heating that uses a one-off high-level gas fired warm air heater.
An L2 automatic fire alarm system was installed using a Twinflex Pro panel in the reception area, as well as automatic heat/smoke detection systems across four separate zones. The partitioning used to create a large dividing wall was also made with fire-rated windows, while additional internal partitioning created an individual working area, locker rooms and a changing toilet and shower room for staff. All newly installed partitioning complies with building regulations to achieve a minimum fire rating of 30 minutes in the internal office areas and one hour externally to the warehouse.
We installed all sanitary ware, a new shower cubicle for office staff and carried out plumbing works to provide hot and cold water. LED lighting was installed throughout the building with a mixed-use of manual switching and automatic PIR sensors, along with a mixture of cable and wiring accessories with colour contrasting sockets/switches to ensure compliance with Part M. Both non-slip safety flooring and heavy-duty contract carpet tiles were installed, joinery works were carried out for timber doors and frames, and plastering and decoration were completed throughout the ground and first floor.
To have a continuous physical presence on-site with one point of contact enables clear communication with the client. We always want our clients to have peace of mind throughout the process, so it was incredibly important to the SRW Consultants team to have one project manager dealing with all aspects of the project.
The site has been completely transformed and we’re thrilled to have been able to provide Absolute Collagen with an environment for the business to continue to thrive.
